How would you describe the work you do and why?
Living in the Welsh Marches (an area that borders the English & Welsh counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire & Powys) I’m surrounded and constantly inspired by the quintessentially British, traditional black and white villages, red brick buildings and oak framed houses. I’m inspired, not only by the buildings themselves, but by the homes and shops that inhabit them. There are so many different types of historical architecture across Britain and over the centuries families & independent businesses have adapted themselves to the ageing, creaking shapes of buildings that are hundreds of years old, squeezing themselves into the nooks and crannies of worn smooth stone & woodwork.

Suzanne Boak is a professional artist based in the Welsh Marches. She works in pen, capturing the beautiful and intricate details of historical buildings and architecture.
